Is My Heart Broken?

Holding her for the first time 6 days after surgery

In the midst of the day-to-day routine, sometimes a moment comes like a gift, wrapped in the ordinary, a moment that jolts you back to an extraordinary time. Yesterday, while picking up her big sisters from school, Jackie, unprompted, asked from her car seat while looking at the light, thin, but long scar on her chest, "Is my heart broken?" I replied, "No baby. They fixed it." She asked, "Who fixed it?" That would be Dr. Charles Fraser and the amazing heart team at Texas Children's Hospital. We are grateful beyond words..."like something the Lord made."

I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:13-14
