Never forget that people were present recording Jesus in the only way possible in those days-by writing. My guess is that they would have recorded Him if they could have done so. Also, he Bible is replete with stories of failed leaders and failed churches and failed people groups. The Bible records the good and the bad since that is what is the truth.

Secondly, I am always suspicious of any comment that does not first, and always first, remember the victim in a statement. You did not mention this in your statement so it is my guess that you are more concerned about those who may not have handled a victim in the way that they should have. Always show concern for the victims before you start defending someone else. By not mentioning the victim, one might perceive that you are neglecting the wounded.Dee Parsonsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3310476356966667906.post-1047037700910418362016-12-02T05:24:43.451-08:002016-12-02T05:24:43.451-08:00LOL. EVIL!

1) Kyle did not HAVE to know. It's not illegal for him not to know. Law has determined that it is not unethical to record a phone call by one of the parties on said call.

2) Not only that, but the Bible doesn't address anything that could even be remotely taken out of context to fit your "shady, not Christ like" accusatory statements.

3) I think Jesus is sad about children being abused and taken advantage of. If that hadn't happened in these situations, NONE OF THIS OTHER STUFF WOULD BE NECESSARY! Why is it so hard for people to get that through their thick skulls. Jesus is likely not only sad, but angry and ready to attach some heavy neckwear around these " pastors' " collums.

Truth doesn't need a filter.Brooks Hansennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3310476356966667906.post-72675395787330539022016-12-01T10:56:48.513-08:002016-12-01T10:56:48.513-08:00This is all getting so beyond crazy. I am beginning to think that this is not being handled Christ like. I want healing and justice for all of the victims but they need to be careful how they are dealing with this. Just my opinion and I'm doing it without revealing who I am because I don't want to be involved in slinging mud. I think Jesus is really sad about everyone and everything about this. I'm ...Karen, thank you for sharing your story. I'm simply blown away by how many people knew of your situation and the other instances of abuse at IBC. My efforts to imagine the boldness and extent of the leadership'a efforts to intentionally sweep such heartbreaking and serious abuse leaves me completely dumbfounded and disgusted. While reading your story I kept remembering Scott Payne'a interview with a Memphis news station (I can't remember which station, maybe it was channel 5?) and how he looked into the camera offering an apology to the victims. At the time it simply came across to me as a staged and planned thing for him. However, when reading your story I kept thinking that it appears that scott not only guilty of covering up sex abuse in the church, but was actually experienced at it. For this to be a case, it paints the picture of an incredibly evil individual whose neglect of innocent children mirrors in nature the very evil of the abusers themselves.

While justice may not ever be served at the legal level it was subject to under the statute of limitations, I strongly hope that justice will descend relentlessly upon anyone in these cases of abuse who failed you and the other victims.

I'm beyond glad to hear of your plans to pursue change and for your bravery and selflessness to share story for yourself and every other child who experienced suffering at the hands of the abusers and their supporters.

Thank you.

Reidsternoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3310476356966667906.post-72808215786257585562016-11-30T18:38:08.180-08:002016-11-30T18:38:08.180-08:00Did your dad report it to authorities? was it repo...Did your dad report it to authorities? was it reported when you met with the pastor?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3310476356966667906.post-63156936064408421462016-11-30T17:15:39.500-08:002016-11-30T17:15:39.500-08:00What phenomenal bravery Karen. Have you considered trying to have the law changed regarding the statute of limitations on sex crimes against minors in TN? These laws can be changed when victims like yourself contact their legislators and are willing to testify before lawmakers. These predators realize the trauma paralyzes victims into silence for years. Longer statutes of limitations are needed to achieve justice, especially when kids are involved.

For Amy, you're probably not done writing about Central Church Collierville. They have protected other CCC leaders who are sexual abusers. I hope that those victims may be encouraged by Karen's strength and also come forward. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
